Galen Nelson is the Director of Market Development at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), where he manages the InnovateMass program which provides commercialization acceleration support for later stage clean energy technologies. Galen also manages the MassCEC’s microgrid efforts and is broadly charged with identifying, analyzing, and helping to shape the MassCEC’s understanding of and support for emerging cleantech markets.
Prior to joining the MassCEC, Galen served under Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino as the City’s Green Tech Business Manager at the Boston Redevelopment Authority where he worked on a wide range of policy and program initiatives all tied to growing the cleantech eco-system in Boston. Galen also worked at the Green Roundtable, a green building consulting and advocacy firm, where he managed the construction of the NEXUS Green Building Resource Center. Galen previously served as a consultant to the City of Boston from 2007-2008, overseeing with two other consultants the development of the City’s green affordable housing program.
